I’m already hungry!

This morning I’ve started my 3 month fitness program to be in shape for the wedding.  That means cardio, weights, nutrition, stretching, the whole she-bang.  I’m relatively confident because I know it can be done as I’ve done it.  The biggest challenge for me will be consistency.  I’ve done this a couple of times, only being consistent for a month…the challenge will be to keep going this time.

I’m at 220 lbs. now…and hope to be down to 190 lbs. by Aug. 22nd.  Keep in mind, I went from 248 lbs. to 191 lbs. in 3 months so this is an attainable goal.

Nutrition is still a big puzzle for me.  I’ve just been sticking with my 2000 calorie diet.  Eating 200 calories every two hours throughout the day, as well as a 300-500 calorie lunch and dinner.  I’m trying to break up the 200 calorie meals.

8:00 am – 1 Egg

10:00 am – 1 Kashi bar

12:00 pm – 1 large dark green leaf salad with beans/chicken/dressing probably around 400 calories

2:oo pm – 1 Kashi bar, 1 apple

4:00 pm – Workout

5:00 pm – Post workout I drink 1  Myoplex.

6:00 pm – 1 Lean Cuisine and two usually 2 bags of veggies

7:00 pm – Maybe some Ice Cream or a bowl of cereal.

WeightsI’ll stick to that same nutritional format every day for at least 90 days, which makes shopping easy.  The hard part is maintaining myself on the weekends where normal food is on the menu…especially grilled meat, which I could eat all day.  The regiment forbids eating after 7pm and requires me to get a good night’s sleep.  I’m not supposed to drink alcohol either…empty calories.

But I think something is missing.  I seem to get worn down and tend to have no energy after a while…around the 30 day mark seems to be where I hit the wall.  I’m wondering if I’m taking in enough of the right foods…so I’m certainly open to suggestion.  I do 30 minutes of heavy cardio (around 130 – 140 bpm) and weights every day, 5 days a week, alternating upper and lower body.  One of the thing I KNOW I could improve on is stretching because when I do stretch it feels great…and my flexibility sucks.  The gym here at work is free, which is awesome, but the classes they offer are in the middle of the day.  Who has to time at 11 a.m. to do a spinning class?  Um…hello?  Shower?

This isn’t going to be much fun…but the results should be worth the effort.

  1. Hey there. The most important tool I’ve found in trying to lose weight has been http://www.myfooddiary.com. It’s a subscription site for keeping track of what you’ve eaten and calories burned against the goals you set for yourself. Really has helped raise awareness about what goes in the mouth and how many calories my exercise program burns. I’m at my target weight now have adjusted my goal to maintenance mode. Give it a look and good luck!
